Maggie Grace was born Margaret Grace Denig, September 21 1982. She is an American Actress best known as Shannon Rutherford in ABC TV series Lost. Originating from Worthington Ohio she quit high school and moved into Los Angeles with her mother when her parents separated. While struggling financially she landed her first part as the title character in the web-based video show Rachel's Room in the year 2001. The television film Murder in Greenwich, in which she played 15-years-old Martha Moxley earned her the nomination for a Young Artist Award. Grace Rutherford played Shannon Rutherford for Lost's first two seasons of 2004 and she shared the Screen Actors Guild Award (with the rest of the cast) alongside her. Grace decided to concentrate on film after starring opposite Tom Welling's character in The Fog, in 2005. She also appeared on screen in Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club and, opposite Liam Neeson's Kim Mills as Kim Mills for Taken. Taken 2 (2012), Taken 3 2014 and Taken 4 (2014) are her re-casts of the characters. Grace reprised the role of Shannon in two more episodes of Lost which included the finale of the series. In 2013, she was in the seventh season Californication. She portrays Faith who is both an avid stargazer as well as a socialite. Hank Moody, played by David Duchovny, falls for her. She's the daughter of Stephen Gyllenhaal (director) and Naomi Achs (producer), she is a bit older in age than Jake Gyllenhaal. Her career began as a teenager when she appeared in small role in films made by her father. Also, she worked alongside her brother in the 2001 cult film Donnie Darko. Her subsequent roles included Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, both 2002 and Mona Lisa Smile (2003). Gyllenhaal received critical acclaim in both of her roles as the main character actress in Secretary (2002) which is which is an erotic romantic drama as well as Sherrybaby (2006). In 2006, she was also nominated for The Golden Globe Award. In 2006, she appeared in numerous commercially successful movies including World Trade Center. However the role she played as Rachel Dawes that brought her wider attention in The Dark Knight (2008). Nominated in the Academy Award as Best Supporting Actress due to her part in Crazy Heart, (2009). She then was in comedies and dramas, including Nanny McPhee's Big Bang (2010) Hysteria 2011 and Won't Back Down 2012 Other roles she has played include a Secret Service agent in the action thriller White House Down (2013) and a musician in Frank (2014) and the title role in the drama The Kindergarten Teacher (2018). Gyllenhaal began her professional career as director, screenwriter and script writer, when she wrote and directed The Lost Daughter, a psychological drama. The Lost Daughter. The film was awarded Best Screenplay at The Venice International Film Festival, and was also nominated for the Academy Award.
